The Old Bakery was originally constructed by the Somerset family, these buildings were designed to accommodate the village bakers. The story of this place dates back to the 1870s when a bustling bakery and bakery shop graced this location, serving the community until the 1960s when it was transformed into a post office. Legend has it that one of Queen Victoria's delectable cakes was crafted right here.

Picture this: villagers patiently lining up along the lane to savor the aroma of freshly baked bread, a cherished tradition that unfolded here for decades.

In more recent times, The Old Bakery underwent several transformations, housing a print shop, a hat-making workshop, and even a cozy 'home pub' known as The Silver Fox. The year 2022 marked the latest chapter in its storied history as it was thoughtfully converted into a cozy 2 bedroomed cottage, preserving its unique character and heritage.

There is a gates parking space for you use which can hold 1 car or van. More free parking is available on the main street.

Only registered guests permitted at the property 

Once you have booked we require you to complete our own registration form (which is emailed) with all guests details on, plus we require a form of ID from the lead person. 

This property sleeps 5 people in 4 beds (one is a king size). If booking for 5 people we can provide an additional trundle bed (please note there will be 3 people in the one bedroom)

We live on site as our house is attached to The Old Bakery by the garage.  Our aim is you have a relaxing and uninterrupped stay at The Old Bakery, however we are on hand should you need us.
